Florence was once the centre of the universe
thanks to the illustrious period of the Renaissance. The city
which gave us Michelangelo and some of the finest architecture
in the world has since taken on a new importance.
Having become one of the most succesful leading post war cities
in Italy, Florence is a fine example of a booming modern city
and offers both it's residents and visitors a fantastic choice
of things to do and see.

Language Spoken
Italian is the primary language. However, as the former
capital city of Italy and the home of Dante Alighieri
Florence has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. English
is widely understood although some Florentines would
prefer if you at least tried to speak some of their
language!

Working hours
Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm - Florentine people
work very hard so you can dispel the popular myth of
the siesta with most offices and shops working "non
stop" all through the day. Nevertheless most Food
shops in Florence i.e. "alimentari" close
from 1 p.m. and re-open at 18:00. If hungry inbetween
these hours try one of the many excellent Rosticceria's
as a stop gap between meals.
